Overview: The Text Box field has a number of variations that cover several types of text and numeric input. These largely define how the fields will appear on a mobile device, and what keyboard styles will open to input into the field (e.g., a numeric keyboard for entering Phone Numbers).
Steps:
1. Click on the ‘Forms’ module.
2. Click on the ‘Templates’ button.
3. Click on the folder ‘+’ to create a new template.
4. Complete the template name and click on the blue ‘Save’ button.
5. Click on the newly created template.
6. Click on the ‘Fields’ button.
7. Click on the ‘Text Box’ button.
8. Choose a Text Box variant from the dropdown list.
9. Give your field a Label (the name that a user will see when filling in the form). You may also give the field a default value that will be pre-filled each time a new copy of the form is created. Marking the field as mandatory will force a user to give the field a value before they can submit the form.
10. Click on the tick button to save.
11. The remaining types of Text Box fields work as follows:
- Long Text is a large text area which can accommodate a longer description, even paragraphs.
- Phone number will bring up a number keypad for the form user.
- Email will make a clickable email link.
- Numeric will bring up a number keypad for the form user.
- Decimal will treat a number as 1.0, 1.1, etc. It is important for working with formulas.
- Web link will make a clickable web link. ( You must leave the edit mode and view the form as draft to be able to click the link) Currency will treat a number as an AUD amount (or whatever currency is set in the system)
