Explore the new hardware feature in Trackview and efficiently manage hardware devices within KIM.
Click "Hardware"
Access the New Hardware section.
Hardware currently in system
From the Hardware list - we can see the existing Hardware in the system.
New Hardware
To create a new piece of Hardware - select the Plus icon in the toolbar to continue.
Hardware Fields
When creating a new Hardware item - you will see a few empty fields.
Device Serial # / IMEI
To start - fill in the Serial # field. This is usually on the device or box and would be either labelled as Serial Number or possibly IMEI. In the case of externally provided GPS via integrations - this would be what ever identifier is available from the other system.
Device Name or possibly AssetId
For Name - this can be an additional identifier to note differences between devices linked to the same Equipment. For Kamera devices - this is used to captured the AssetId as some datasets available have the DeviceId being the Serial # while others provide the AssetId instead. This assists the Requests and Trips section in Trackview to marry up the data accordingly to data within KIM so that it can be restricted by role access as required.
Unit Type
For the Unit Type - select the type from the combo list provided.
Equipment Device Installed In
For the Linked Equipment - this is the equipment that the device has been installed in. Select the piece of Equipment from the list. If the Equipment is not available from the List - this means you will need to go to Options > Equipment and select additional Groups.
Assigned / Installed Date
Once the Vehicle is selected - the Assigned Date field will be made available. Select the Date which the hardware has been assigned or installed on.
Click Back
Once the fields have been entered - click the back arrow in the toolbar to continue.
Click "abc12345"
Now that we are back to the Hardware List - click on our newly created hardware to continue.
Click "Edit"
From the popup - we will be granted with one or two options depending on which role has been setup with delete hardware access - which can be found under Options > User Rights > Hardware. In this case since we are an Admin user - we will have access to both Edit and Delete in this instance. Select Edit to continue.
Delete Hardware
From the Edit screen - we can then make any adjustments or correct any mistakes as required. Further to this - we can click on the Delete icon in the toolbar to Delete this hardware. Click the Delete button to continue.
Click "Delete"
When attempting to Delete the hardware from the Edit screen or from the List screen - you will be prompted to confirm prior to the item being deleted to avoid any mistakes. Click Delete to continue.
Hardware List Post Deletion
When the Hardware Deletion is confirmed - you will be returned to the Hardware List.
